INDUSTRY DETAILS
Jeremy is the tirelessly motivated director and entrepreneur from which all of Barbershop stems. His passion for filmmaking and his dexterity both in front of and behind the camera can be credited in part to his exceptionally early introduction to the industry. Jeremy starred in the CTV children’s TV show Puttnam’s Prairie Emporium, which exposed him to the mechanics of filmmaking. Later, while earning a Fine Arts Degree at the University of Lethbridge, he began making use of his knowledge in cinematography and storytelling by shooting promotional videos for the university. He then studied Communications and Social Justice at the University of Windsor before returning to Saskatchewan to teach cinema and photography at the First Nations University in Regina. It was then, during the emergence of digital technology, he realized there was an opportunity to be at the forefront of creating cinematic content for companies that were new to digital video advertising. He formed Studio 10 Productions in 2005, designed to use the newest technology to create first-rate content while being produced in a setting that treated everyone involved like family.
Since starting Studio 10 in Regina, it has since expanded its offices to Saskatoon and Vancouver, and, in 2020 acquired the Vancouver-based Barbershop Films, from which Studio 10 is now named. Since launching the company, Jeremy and Barbershop Films have produced content for industry leaders such as Apple, Bloomberg, Federated Co-op, the BC Lions, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Great Western Brewing, and Westjet. Barbershop has also been decorated with a Retail Marketing Award for the ‘Made by Us’ national campaign for FCL and has won Best in Show at the National Agri-Marketing Awards in three of the last five years.
With decades of experience and an incomparable work ethic, Jeremey has established himself as one of the most respected and versatile directors in Western Canada, who is constantly pushing himself forward in pursuit of producing greater cinematic storytelling. His intuitive approach and experience allow him to communicate on an instinctual level with both actors and crew while creating an environment that imbues confidence for everyone on set. Jeremy brings that same approach as a CEO and entrepreneur, working to elevate everyone around him in order to deliver products that truly resonate with their audiences. When Jeremy can be pulled away from his work, he can typically be found travelling with his wife, playing sports with his two boys, or nursing a headache from one too many Shirley Temples the night before.
